Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a common circulatory condition in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs — most often the legs. PAD is a sign of widespread arterial disease and significantly increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Symptoms
- Leg pain, cramping, or fatigue when walking (claudication)
- Pain at rest in the feet or toes
- Non-healing wounds or sores on the legs or feet
- Cold or discolored legs or feet
- Gangrene in severe cases
Treatment Options at Dr. Jaber's Practice
- Atherectomy — minimally invasive removal of plaque from arteries
- Angioplasty (PTA) — balloon dilation to open narrowed arteries
- Stenting — placement of a mesh tube to keep the artery open
- IVL / Shockwave therapy for calcified vessels
- Bypass surgery and redo bypass procedures
- Limb salvage surgery to prevent amputation
- Wound care for chronic vascular ulcers
